Sketch Challenge - Doodle Dragon Studios

I am loving the digi stamps, especially Dustin Pike's! They are having a sketch challenge on the Doodle Dragon Studios Challenge Blog.

Here is the sketch:

And here is my card:

I used Prismacolor pencils to color the digital image. The papers are TPC (The Paper Company) Studio. The cool frame around the digi stamps is from SVG Cuts - My Moms Attic Collection. I added small dots to the SVG around the edge, cut on the Cricut using SCAL and hand stitched in three different colors. I used embellishments from Creative Charms.

Here is a close up:

Thanks for taking a look!

A Valentine Milkshake

I have another Valentine's SVG to share. My son picked out Valentine Bendy Straws (from Joann's) for his classmates.

I created this SVG and will cut it to go in the goodie bags. I am going to attach the straw so it looks like it is coming out the of the shake along with a pencil. Good thing there are only 20 kids in the class!?!

Have a great weekend!

Wedding Favor

I was taking a look at the little Valentine Box I made and thought it would make a cute wedding favor. It fits 12 Hershey Kisses so it is a good size. You can cut it on the Create (12 x 6).

The file already has the score lines in there so it is super easy to assemble and adding the cuts and embellishments was so fun. I used an embossed paper for my house - from K & Company.

I printed the Bride & Groom's names and the wedding date for the side panel. The top panels (roof of the house) have the Guest's names and Table #. I printed the type on my printer.

I used files from SVG Cuts for the cut files.
Here are the details on the SVG Cuts files I used:
Scalloped Edge - Freebie from 11/18/09
Rose Flowers - Freebie from 1/21/10
Scalloped Frame - From Christmas Cookie Party Collection
Leaves for Roses - 3D Mums & Fall Flowers Collection
I made the door with the heart cutout.

This uses the same house structure as the Small Valentine House. If you missed it click here to DOWNLOAD.

I've already received a request for a St. Patty's Day house and an Easter house. Hope you are not getting tired of these houses!

Congrats Card

My son's Kindergarten teacher won Outstanding Educator and I made a card to congratulate her. Here is a peak at it. I purchased (for the first time) some rubber stamps that mount to the clear blocks at Joanne's. These are my first stamps ever.

Wow - these were so fun! I stamped the flower on green stock using peurple ink and added a button and Stickles.

Have a great day!

Small Valentine Box

As promised here is a version of the Valentine Box that will cut on the Cricut Create (12x6). It is quite a bit smaller than the other one but it makes a really cute favor box. It fits about 12 Hershey kisses.

The structure cuts as all one piece and has the score lines on it (score lines will take awhile):

And here are the elements to add on to the house:

Same routine as the larger house.
1. Cut the Structure & fold on all the scores.
2. Add cut elements and embellishments.
3. Add adhesive to the tab and adhere to the other side.
4. Fold in the tabs at the bottom and then the notched tabs at the bottom.
5. Fill with treats.
6. Fold in the small top flaps.
7. Fold in the other top flaps one at a time.
You are done!

If you'd like the Structure SVG & the Elements click here to DOWNLOAD.
I've also included a SCUT file for SCAL II. It has each SVG on a separate layer.

Stop by again- I am going to create a Wedding Favor using this box.

Hoppy Valentine's Day

I created this card for Valentine's Day. My niece (who is also my son's Godmother) loves frogs so I'm sure she will get a kick out of this one. I wanted to make it look like the frog on the right hopped right off the card into the inside.

I used the FREE SVG from SVG Cuts for the frog. His name is Fritzie The Frog. If you haven't already signed up for the FREE SVGs from SVG Cuts you should go do that now! Their cut files are awesome.

The eyes are from Creative Charms - Black Gradient Pearl Stickers.

I used the scalloped frame that I made last week with the swirly heart but this time I added small holes so it made the hand stitching easy and so uniform.

Want the SVG for that? Click here to DOWNLOAD.

And don't forget to head on over and download Fritzie!

SNOW Layout

Here is a layout I did for my local Scrap Book Store, The Crop Shop. I'm on the design team and the assignment was papers from TPC (The Paper Company) Studio. The papers were wonderful. I used Let It Snow, Flurries & Swirl. This layout also features Winter Blues Sticker Sheet. I also used Core'dinations Navy and a Gray Card Stock.

I am also submitting this layout for the Fussy & Fancy Friday Challenge - Winter Theme.

This layout features silver and blue inking. I wasn't sure how the ink would work on the stickers but they worked great. The SNOW type is from the sticker sheets.

I did a bunch of layering on the SNOW title - here is a closeup of all the layers and a close up of the final title.

Baby Name Collage & Technique

Here is a recent Baby Name Collage I did. I donated one of these at our church bazaar. The winner recently had her baby and called me with the name.

Here is a closeup that shows some stitching and you can see part of the bumble bee's path above the C Block.

Here is a picture of her quilt and I matched it along with the colors of the room: Sage Green, Browns and Tans.

I wanted to do a path for the bumble bee like the quilt but I did not want to glue down a bunch of small pieces. I did a cut of the bumble bee path on the Cricut and used the cut as a stencil. Here is how I did it:

STEP 1 - Draw the line in Illustrator using the pen tool.

STEP 2 - I gave it a stroke of 5pts and clicked on Dashed Line and put in 12pt/10pt for the Dashed Line.

STEP 3 - Click on Object - Path - Outline Stroke.

STEP 4 - Click on the initial path and delete it so all you have is the dashes - check it in Preview mode to make sure you just have the dashes.

STEP 5 - Save as a SVG and import into SCAL. After you cut it you can use this as a stencil for the bee's path. I used an ink pad to color in the stencil.

I'm not thinking many of you would need a SVG of a bee path but you never know. Email me if you don't have Illustrator/Inkscape and I'll send it via email if you would like it for an upcoming project. Thanks for stopping by!

Valentine Gift Box

Why re-invent the wheel, right? I created a Gingerbread House for Christmas and loved making and putting it together. (See the side panel of my blog for a photo).

I decided to create a Valentine Gift Box using the same structure. I turned the icicles into scallops and added lots of hearts. There are only 3 SVGs for this file. Each is on a separate layer in SCAL 2 (Sure Cuts Alot).

The Structure:

The Background:

The Elements:

Here are step by step instructions:

STEP 1: Cut the Structure SVG 2 times using white card stock. Please note - there are score lines on this and it does take awhile.

STEP 2: Cut the Background SVG 2 times using whatever background color you want. I used a red stock. I would recommend a paper that isn't too thick. Mount the background paper to the white cardstock. I use spray mount and I roll over it to make sure all is secure.

STEP 3: Cut the Elements SVG 2 times. I used various colors and stocks for this. You can layout it out on the mat and cut all at once. (see photo below) If you want to mix up the color scheme - go for it!

STEP 4: Adhere the cut elements to the house and embellish. I used Creative Charms embellishments. (I added more embellishments to the door panel after I took this photo).

STEP 5: Attach two pieces together and add some adhesive to the tab to secure.

STEP 6: Fold on all the score lines and fold up 2 bottom flaps and fold in the 2 bottom flaps that have the notches. Fold in the top/side flaps and fold in one of the top flaps and then the other. Add in some yummy heart cutout cookies or a Valentine gift.

I'm including the SVG and the SCUT file in the ZIP file. If you'd like to alter or if you are using SCAL 1 and need to reimport the SVGs here are the measurements:

Elements SVG: w 9.33 h 10.08
Background: w 10.2 h 8.73
Structure: w 10.9 h 11.38

If you decide to make one please send me an image via email - would love to see it!

For the SVGs, SCUT and a PDF of the instructions click here to DOWNLOAD.

I plan to make a mini version of this for anyone that has the Cricut Create. It will be about 3" tall. It will not have all the detail but it will be cute! Stop by again!

Heart with Swirls

There was a request on the Sure Cuts Alot Craft Edge Forum this morning for a Heart with Swirls. I made one. It is similar to the photo posted on the Forum but a bit different.

Here are the separate elements:

Here are the elements all layered:

I cut the files and here is a scan. I sanded some Core'dinations Paper for the square cut and inked the heart and added some Creative Charms gradient gems. I added some foam squares under the scalloped heart to add dimension.

Perfect for a Scrapbook Page or Card!

For the SVG click here to DOWNLOAD.
